What is the Black & White Challenge?
The Black & White Challenge is a monthly challenge that will present members with a theme that should be presented in monochrome. Often, articles will be included that may offer tips and suggestions relating to either the theme or Black & White Photography in general. You will be asked to share details about the software you chose for your conversion. By removing color, the image will be broken down to the interplay of light and shadow, line, texture and form. As part of the challenge we want you to try to “see” in black and white.
What is the challenge’s time frame?
The challenge will be presented on the first Thursday of each month. Members will also be allowed to revisit and post submissions for previously presented challenges.
What is the purpose of the challenge?
The purpose of this challenge is to encourage members to explore and share the creative possibilities of black & white photography. The hosts of this challenge are Alex, Tony, Vicki, Clive and Helen. While the three of us share a special interest in black and white photography we do not claim any expertise.
What are the rules
Images must be your own and presented in monochrome. Participating members will be expected to share techniques and questions. While the hosts will alternate selecting the theme, the success of the challenge will depend on the active participation of the our members.
