I recently came across the work of Leonard Missone. You don't have to be a lover of black and white photography to appreciate his atmospheric photography.
Feel free to share the work of photographers whose work you admire in this thread.
Weren't they wonderful, Karen. Some of them had the look of paintings. I never took a history of photography course, so while many people may recognize his name his work was new to me. I loved studying the elements that made them stand out in my mind and have looked at them a few times.

Thanks for sharing hmca. Yes they are truly amazing photographs.
I don't have a favourite photographer as such. I admire anyone who has the skills to create a great looking photo, whether technically difficult to take and/or a work of art.
Whenever I need to give my eyes and brain a rest from whatever I am doing on my computer, I usually spend some time looking through the "popular" photos on 500px.
To me, most of them are amazing to mind blowing and I know I would struggle to produce the overwhelming majority of them. I suspect most of the contributors whose photos reach "popular" status are professional photographers or at least very well trained and or artists.
This is where I normally go for rest and photography/art inspiration - 500px.com/popular
Thanks for adding your source of inspiration, Bailey. I particularly liked this image.
I hope over time other members will add photographers who they find inspiring. What I do find beneficial about looking at a body of work from one photographer is how they have a certain style that carries over in all of their work.

Thank you for making me discover Leonard Misone. He is an inspiring photographer.
Thank you also for the invitation to share work. I totally agree with you that looking at a body of work form one photographer can be very beneficial. There is no doubt that studying what makes the distinctive style of a photographer constitutes a most valuable exercise.
“Photographer” and “admire” are two big words. Personally, I like photography the same way I like music: different pieces, different authors, different styles, for different reasons, at different moments. I was wondering if you would accept to widen the topic of this thread so if people wished to do so they could also post here a link to a single photograph they particularly like for any reason. It could also contribute to widen our vision.
As suggested by Bailey , I surfed lightly in 500px.com, where I discovered Lurdes Lay Alves. I found her work quite varied and creative, while not necessarily classic. I think you may like this untitled one from her.
That's a wonderful suggestion, Maurice! You also made a good analogy comparing our appreciation of different works of art.
A successful forum has actively engaged members. Your suggestion opens the way for more members to contribute to this thread. So thank you! I hope others will follow your lead and not confine themselves to sharing the work of one photographer as I first suggested.
I do like the photograph you shared....it captures the mood of what looks to be an abandoned old castle or home. Would love to explore that old building with camera in hand.

I's like to share the work of Gerry Blanchard, a member of a FB group that I'm in. What I find fascinating is how he transforms his images into colorful works of art. I am thinking that perhaps ritage might find his work particularly interesting.
Not included above...this is one of his recent works shared on FB.
Oh wow, Helen. When I see photos like these and the bears, I want to sell all my camera gear and take a vow of silence and live in a cave. Amazing stuff. Thanks, Clive

I'm sorry Helen, I didn't see this until just now. I find it very interesting but also way beyond me, and the photos are obviously shot with the end result in mind.
