The magnificent facade of the former Grants Department Store in Croydon Town Centre. Built in 1894 it was once regarded as the Harrods of south London. When it eventually closed, developers were sympathetic enough to preserve the original windows and brickwork. i.ibb.co/Kyjss9M/Windows.jpgDennis

Two views of the fruit and vegetable (and all sorts of other things) market in Surrey Street, central Croydon. It has been here from Mediaeval times and is always bustling with life. This week, the stalls sport Union Jack decorations in honour of Saturday's Coronation of Charles III. i.ibb.co/8mNvQMN/UL1.jpgi.ibb.co/6vPMPTP/UL2.jpgBrenda

By a strange coincidence this letter arrived this morning, with an appeal for donations to give urban wildlife a helping hand. In the circumstances, we were pleased to contribute to this worthy cause. i.ibb.co/JrC00pL/City.jpgDennis

On the Thames Path east of the City, the road is narrow as it runs in between disused warehouses (now converted to apartments on the left and a Film Studio on the right). In between the two buildings, the walkway above the road has been turned into a garden. In full summer it is a mass of foliage and the whole thing stems from a single large shrub which springs up from behind a gate at road level on the left. i.ibb.co/M2HYd1k/Sand.jpgBrenda

An arrangement of paving stones to prevent motor vehicles entering a cyclists-only area also makes an attractive and unusual pattern. i.ibb.co/3kfMwcr/PA.jpgBrenda

I came upon this naive but attractive representation of the story of Noah's Ark painted on the side of an unassuming little church in the London suburbs. The rather chilling question that accompanied the illustration reminds us all yet again of the perils of Climate Change. (I do however also remember being read a biblical text wherein the Lord God said: "I do set my bow in the clouds as a sign that the waters shall never again cover the earth" - or something like that - so perhaps there is hope for us after all.) i.ibb.co/7G4TY1x/P.jpgBrenda

A chilly morning in the park and everybody is on the move - the one exception being the obstinate static observer on the right. i.ibb.co/4jSg766/Rest-2.jpgDennis

The tiled floor in our kitchen - bold but orderly. I laid it myself, about fifty years ago. Looks ok now, but at the time it seemed chaotic. i.ibb.co/pRzYdZd/Floor.jpgDennis

L is for the Lines made by the Bowling Club's Groundsman as he prepares the rinks for the coming Outdoor Season. He has made an early start this year, as the Outdoor Season will not start until the end of April. i.ibb.co/cL97sJq/Lines.jpgDennis
