Presuming you have PSE8 already installed, from the Win10 Control Panel select "Default Programs", then select "Associate a file type....". Wait for the file types to load and scroll down to the psd extension line. Double click on this line to open a menu of possible applications. Select PSE8 (which should be there as one option) and click OK.

The circle background is visually consistent with your choice of circular frames for the photos, making the background and subjects in harmony. The flower background lacks that rapport. Just my 2ยข!

Stringbean, in Step 2 I think you meant On top layer Control + Shift + U to desaturate.

An excellent "work-around" tip for haze reduction control that works perfectly in the stand-alone version of LR 6.1. Thanks for posting!
