The main reason for me going back to the sort of original photo is that it reminds me of the situation - a bunch of tree trunks/branches in the way and a slight opening to see the butterfly in that shaft of light. Granted it's not one for a portfolio - but its the one that reminds me of the moment and how precious it was (at least for me).

Thanks for the input. I decided to go with 2 versions - more like the original to show how it "stuck out" in the dark forest area, and a close up using a phi-grid .

Looking for suggestions on how to crop this photo taken on 8/20/2020. The monarch was "hidden" in a forest area which made getting any kind of photo on the difficult side. Open to portrait, landscape, or even square cropping. Figured more eyes and better minds would be better then what I have. Thanks in advance for comments and suggestions. This is just a jpg version of a psd file - so keep that in mind. ~bruce.

Are you using the Auto mode or the SR Auto mode? You also might want to try Program mode? HDR can be found on page 24 of the manual (at least the one I found online).

Just thought I'd let people know that II ended up ordering the Shimoda Action X30 starter kit. Will have to wait as it is on backorder (coming from China). Which is probably OK as I won't be taking any long trips/hiking trails until this pandemic ends. I'll let you know when it arrives and I put it through it's paces.

Thank you for posting this. I don't have many eps formats - but for the ones that I do - this is very beneficial.

Just an afterthought - why are you formatting SD cards with your computer? I was told that one should only format cards in your camera(s). Am I missing something?

not sure about the blocking. If you really want to take a look do a search for Shimda Action X30. thanks for the insights on your bag.

Looking to replace an old smaller backpack with something a little more sturdier and more comfortable. I want it to be able to carry my Robus 5570 with Manfrotto 500 AH fluid head. Space for Nikon D7500 with Nikon 18-300 lens and a 35mm lens with 77mm filters (NDs, CP), speed flash, small chargers, etc. along with a place for a water bladder. And no - I don't want to hire a Sherpa (LOL). It will be used for day hikes of up to 10 miles. I have found the new Shimoda Action X30 starter kit as a possibility www.shimodadesigns.com/actionx-30Does anyone have other suggestions that I should look at. Thanks in advance for any input. ~bruce.

I have switched from ball head to a fluid head system and never going back. Once it is level - it is level for panoramas and everything else. I've followed Hudson Henry on this and one of his videos (he has many on fluid heads!) www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1h8YrcjtjY gives some excellent background on why he likes fluid heads. He also has a recommended list of what parts you need especially if you are starting from scratch (which I did) and that list can be found here: www.hudsonhenry.com/ats-list/#support~bruce.

For the B&W - I would crop the left 1/3 or so off to emphasize the single flower more. For the color - it looks good to me as it is.
