It should be interesting when ON1 comes out with their new program this Fall called "On1 Photo Raw". Not sure about cataloging - although there is something about a "Favorites" that the program will "watch". The company is saying they are combining the best of Browsing Photos and Cataloging. You can read more about it here: www.on1.com/news/browsing-vs-cataloging-the-ins-and-outs/~bruce. ps - not that I need another thing to add to my repertoire I currently use LR - then go over to On1 Effects, Enhance or Portrait - use the many presets from there and then back to LR. I do use elements once in awhile for select processes that seem easier there then in the other programs.

They have also shut down "On1 Photo Magazine" which was a publication that Rick LePage and Diana Kloskowski were running. I'm just wondering how long Adobe will be doing Elements. I remember something about Missing Manual not coming out with an Elements 14 book due to low demand for 13, etc. ~bruce.

Having trouble cleaning the sensor in my DSLR. Used the "Rocket" to blow out and a brush to gently wipe it - but there seems to be a couple of tough spots. Anyone tried the sensor cleaning kits that I guess use some kind of liquid solution to clean their sensors? Getting tired of fixing the spots on images after the fact. ~bruce.

With memory/power hungry programs out there - if you can swing it - the extra ram - also I agree with Frank - get the fusion drive - much faster - again for those power hungry programs. And remember - BACKUP - BACKUP - BACKUP - and I'd recommend a bootable backup from an external drive. ~bruce.

I had thought I had taken a pretty good photo. But based on your comments, I see that I was totally wrong. I wouldn't be too harsh on yourself - photography is a very subjective subject. What are you trying to convey to your audience? Is it the candle making process, including the molds and wicks? Do you want the emphasis to be on the container with the wax buildup? Is the hand holding the container and pouring your main focus? It's the total photo that is causing the problem as can be shown by your "trying to convey to your audience". Too many parts of the whole can cause one to be confused as to what is the intention. I will continue to work on it at my leisure - I have flipped it which changes the dynamics of the lines putting the left to right viewing a little easier on the eyes. When i get done "playing" I might repost another. ~bruce.

My wife and I were in Colonial Williamsburg where they have restarted doing candle demonstrations. Below is an image I took of the lady pouring the melted wax into the molds. Any suggestions and/or comments? preview.ibb.co/mtXByv/pouring_wax.jpg

Ended up splurging and ordered the Epson SureColor P800. I know it is overkill - but I had a 10% off, plus rebate of $250 plus a $50 upgrade rebate - all thru Epson. The reason for the 800 vs the 600 - Epson is currently sold out of the 600 but also the amount the ink cartridges hold in the 800. It cuts the cost of printing an 8.5X11 in half. In doing my ancient form of math - I figured that a little over 1 set of cartridges for the 800 would pay over buying 3+ sets of cartridges for the 600. So In the long/short of it - It should pay for the difference in time. I"m currently printing a lot - catching up on our photo albums. Also printing 17" inch wide vs 13" is a little intriguing.

Not sure if this is legal here - but my Epson R1900 recently died and I've had to order a new printer. Which leaves me with a bunch of ink that I can't use. Anyone interested in the ink? ~bruce.

As I get closer to completing the 59 National Parks of the U.S. (have 1 left to go) - I'm pondering putting together a photo book of the 59 parks for myself and close family members. Any suggestions, hints, guidance - on easiest, best, cheapest outfit to use? (I know - I make it hard). I'm looking for flexibility in where to put photos along with text for each page. Looking at probably at least 60 or so pages at minimum. I'm on a Mac and use Lightroom 6, On1 10, and Photoshop Elements 14. My photos are cataloged via Lightroom at the present time - all on 1 backed up large hard drive. Thanks for any comments or insights. ~bruce.

I have ON1 Plus. As far as "free" ON1 Photo software - I believe it only includes the new version that will be coming out next Fall. I haven't used the five family licenses - Only using it on my main computer. The coaching is where the true learning comes from - putting your photo(s) out there and getting critiqued but also see how Hudson Henry and Matt Kloskowsi do things using ON1 Photo 10. The video courses are also a nice way to learn the program. I'm not sure what the cost is now (I was part of a group that received a discount due to belonging to a previous group of Matt's), but the best way to determine (in my mind) is to deduct what the cost of the new update program coming next Fall from the total and seeing if the resulting figure is in line for what you think you might use from #'s 2, 3 and 4. ~bruce.
