Had to wait until today to get the shot I wanted for this theme. The town VFW Memorial Day Remembrance service at the cemetery. This is the Honor Guard firing a salute after the prayer for the fallen, with the Monument to the local residents who served and died in the background.

The iconic Hawthorne Bridge leading to downtown Portland. Sorry about the pure white sky, but it's May, so it was raining. ISO 160, F/5.6, 120 sec. Thanks for the theme Sepiana! Billz - I couldn't help myself. When you apologized for the sky, I had to play with it in Photoshop 2021. If you don't like it just say the word and I'll delete it, no problem.

I don't know if this is exactly what it intended for the topic, but I'll give it try. Like my photo above, this was taken from my back porch. I mowed the yard yesterday, after a longer than usual interval, so it left behind rather significant grass stems with full seed heads. This female great tailed grackle was eagerly harvesting the bounty of precut nest building material. So I see this as an environmental example of one of my neighbors "Where I Live".

Was letting the dog outside about midnight for his last potty stop of the day and we were having a pea soup fog. Just grabbed my camera and took this from the back porch. Not one of my best, since it's hand held at 1/5 second so it's a little soft, but it fits the theme.

preeb Sounds familiar. Lower 70s yesterday and will be 20°F tonight with snow. We could use a good spring snow and rain as it is very dry here. Clive The farmers are dancing in the fields over this last snow... gave the wheat crop a good dowsing at a good time for it. And the moisture will sink in to help start the corn crop when it's planted next month.

This too is Spring, only in Colorado it comes late, and it comes in fits and starts - thaws, then freezes and thaws again. 9 days ago it was 80° F. 2 days ago we got about 6 inches of snow. This is what's left. Tomorrow it's supposed to snow again. (Actually I was just out playing with my new lens, 28mm prime, photo is taken looking back at town from a mile east)

Thank you for selecting my photo for IOW. I'm quite humbled, as there were several that certainly could have made the grade. Great job by all.
