I especially like your monotone image, Lillias. Good idea inverting the grunge frame.
Tony, nice job on the sky replacement. I am always interested in how people crop their images....I never would have thought of either one of yours.

So I went in a completely different direction than Frank. I edited it in Camera RAW to give it a more vintage look beginning with the vintage 3 profile. Adjusted the sliders as shown.
I then did my first creative edit modifying the autochrome 2 preset in NIK Analog Effect Pro 3. Followed by opening in On1 Effects and adding a deckled frame.

I like the way you used the interior of the castle for the background. The hexagons make it appear that I am looking through a window at the surrounding area.

Our photographer this month considers himself a bit of a history buff. He finds the nostalgic aspects of history intriguing…..thus this challenge photo. It is from the original Mac's outside of Chicago.…..a little piece of Americana that no longer exists. While he seems to have nailed the exposure of this RAW image. I do think there is opportunity to “play” with sliders to create a base look that reflects your vision for the image. And as always, the opportunity for creative interpretation is wide open. Have fun with this one! 1. Participants in the challenge may provide a screenshot of their edits within the RAW converter of their choice along with the reasons for their edits. 2. Following their initial edits members may use whatever “tools" they wish to create an image that portrays their artistic vision for the image as long as the character of the original image is not lost. You may not add anything to the image that wasn’t already there. 3. Including information on plug-ins, actions, external editors, textures, sky replacements etc that were used will only help to inform members of some of the creative options that are available to today’s photographer. 4. Including layer stacks may be something to consider when presenting a final edit. Comments are restricted to complimenting another member's edits. You have until Thursday September 14th to submit your edits. At the end of the challenge the photographer will then choose three favorite renditions. This is the image we will be working on….. Nice one, Jim. I like the tilt and the amount of negative space in the frame.

Wondering if anyone has upgraded their NIK collection to 6? As someone who likes to keep things simple, I am wondering if their new features are overcomplicating things. Appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thanks!

Sepiana, your framed image above is beautiful. It looks like it belongs on a museum wall. The one above the tree....but the tree is a nice one, too.

Used the Stylize filter (extension for Photoshop). Selected the square and added a drop shadow.

What I especially like on the page above is how you've used the bubbles and colored circles in the background to coordinate with your layout.
