Last week I did a manual bacup as recommended. Today I clicked the option to do an automatic one but still get the same error message. Any more ideas? I know I can create a manual incremental update but if it can be automated I am likely to do it more often.

Thanks again Mart. As this computer is so new I haven't yet done a manual backup on to it so you may well have hit the nail on the head. I'll do what you suggest.

Thank you Mart I'll give that a try. I've never understood the different between sleep and hibernate - now I know. Thanks for that too.

Thanks Sepiana. I'll give that a go this evening. It happened again this morning when I 'woke up' the computer. It's fine again now that I turned the computer completely off and then on again.
I'll investigate how to run Elements as administrator.

I've got the Organiser set to remind me to do a backup every month. Previously I've backed up manually.
I click on the message which pops up and it duly prepares the backup. Then this error message appears
The external drive on which all photos and previous back ups are stored has 1.26 TB free.
D: Drive on which other data is stored has 656 GB free C: Drive on which all programs are stored has 157 GB free
I don't understand what it means by 'System'. Could someone help please?

I've recently bought a new computer with Win 11 installed.
The Editor and Organiser are both installed and usually working fine. However I've noticed that after the computer has gone to sleep and I've woken it up then the Editor fails to open. I've tried all ways, including double clicking on the Exe file. I then turn off the computer completely. Start it up again and all is fine ... until the next time.
It's not an insurmountable problem but very irritating especially if I've got several programs open which I have to save and close before shutting down.
Any idea what could be causing the problem please?

Thanks, I found it and they are now happily single. (I do wish the logos weren't quite so similar - a different colour would work - I always get the wrong one!)

I've just successfully reinstalled my 64,000 photo catalogue which is a considerable relief. There's some housework needed on it but it there which is the main thing. Thanks for the help Sepiana. I will now search on here to find out how to disconnet Organiser and Editor from Elements' start window - I know it's on here as I did it on the Win 10 computer.

Ah! It's in the Editor not the Organiser. Thanks Sepiana. I'd assumed they would both be the same.

I'm sure I read somewhere that when I move Elements 2022 to my new Win 11 computer I need to sign out on the Win 10 computer first.
I tried to find where to sign out and can't see it. To be honest, I can't remember ever signing in. I found something in the Adobe site which talked about signing out of Creative Cloud:
When I look at Help I don't see 'Sign Out'. As far as I know I've never used Creative Cloud, not really sure what I'd use it for. Or is it hidden somewhere else?

I know that the best way is to do a full backup from the old computer and reinstall it on the new computer and will certainly be doing that the day before the great move. However my concern is that currently all my photos are on an external drive which Win 10 calls 'I'. I can almost guarantee that it will be a different drive number on the new computer because that's life. On searching through old threads I came across this from michelb:
The following is a quote from michelb on link. I read it to say it would be safer if I change the external drive to a 'Z' drive so that Windows doesn't get the Organiser into a knot but to use a database editor. My question is - what is that? Where do I find it in Win 10 or do I need to download something? My computer ability is very restricted

I too was confused between the two 'arrows' but Sepiana put me right. Personally I think arrows should have their own icon and not be hidden behind the blue blob. In my world they are the most used shape.

Wow! It's amazing what the real experts can do with a poor photo. Thanks so much Pete and Viki.

That always happens for me, and I'm equally as frustrated.
I'm now desperate to try BillieJean's solution.
I've tried and it works! Thanks so much for asking this question Clive, I hadn't realised it wasn't the default.
