Great selections Sydney and innovative presentation. Preeb's winner had me thinking that he had experienced the "Dustbowl" back in the 30's but that would make him .......... (Guess I'll leave that alone). Congratulations everybody. Ron Actually, this area was at the northwestern corner of the dust bowl. That photo was taken on my father-in-law's farm, and he WAS here during the depression. He's 92 and still lives on the farm, but he rents his land out to a couple of younger guys.

Thanks to all and especially to Sydney for the blue ribbon. Quite unexpected with the quality for work that was available for selection this week, but very much appreciated. I have to admit that I was quite entranced by the mix of landscape and macro that Kathy used for her composition.

Another contribution - Next year's bread (or cake, muffins, doughnuts, etc.) - for all of the city slickers, this is what winter wheat looks like in the fall.

I was over at the father-in-law's farm giving the dog a run today and thought that this fit the theme quite well. Color is tricky to find out here, it's been quite windy, and the trees have mostly lost their leaves, or at least the colorful ones have, so I went a slightly different route and tagged on to last week's theme with this one. The combine is very efficient at picking the corn and stripping the kernels off the ears, but it does occasionally drop an ear.

This is the one thing I miss living in Florida. Sure, we get some signs of fall, but I don't get the overall changing of the trees to their beautiful fall coats. That was one of the things I missed living in the Bahamas - that and the ability to just jump in the car and drive until I didn't feel like driving any more... and then actually be someplace other than still just a few minutes from home. They call it "island fever" and I had it in spades. I don't think I could be a snowbird, and certainly not a permanent Floridian - I like having seasons. Comes from living most of my 68 years from Colorado north. Colorado is as semitropical as I can deal with.

Congrats to all. I especially loved "Good Morning", but I'm a sucker for an uncluttered landscape.

Thanks for the comments. I like the compression that I get when using the telephoto on this sort of subject. I more or less igonored my 70-200 lens for landscapes for a long time, but lately I've been using it more and more, with positive results.
