Heading east on the TransCanada Highway this is a first glimpse of Lake Superior, the largest of the 5 Great Lakes bordering Canada and the U.S. A.

Thanks for compiling a collection of demos of the remarkable new features by well-known expert image editors. It will be fun exploring the capabilities of these new tools over the coming months!

I have never figured out a way to do a search for a specific filename in FastStone. Is there a way to do this? Thank you for the above tips. I've used FastStone for years and never really explored its features! Sorry, but within FS Image Viewer searching for images by file name seems limited to doing so within a single folder only. "Child" folders nested with a "parent" folder will not be searched. In the FS browser view (left) from the folders directory on the left select the folder in which you wish to search. Select "File" from the top tool bar; from the pop-down menu select "Open". From the new window that opens cursor down near the bottom to the blank "File Name" field. Enter the file name, including wild card characters * and ? as necessary. Click on the "Open" button to the right of the "File Name" field. If within the folder, thumbnails of the image(s) you are looking for will display in the new window. If you come across any way within FastStone to search for a file name beyond the confines of a single folder please let us know!

While awaiting a reply from BillieJean try: 1. On the list of programs in your Start Menu scroll down to the "W" section 2. Click on the "Windows Accessories" listing (first arrow below) 3. From the ensuing dropdown menu of Accessory items click on "Paint". (it's the 5th item on the list} (2nd arrow below) You are now in Microsoft's Paint program.

Great shot! Perhaps she's related to Rodney Dangerfield?

You guys may all already be very well aware of this === you can run TWO instances of FastStone at the same time.
To open a second instance/window, either right-click the Task Bar icon and then left-click FastStone Image Viewer; or, and this is what I do, center-click the icon (mouse wheel click) and another instance will immediately open.
Each instance will operate completely independent of the other.
This is a very handy ability as you can have two completely different things going on at the same time; plus, you can put the two windows side-by-side and drag/drop between them; or, put an instance of FastStone beside an Explorer window and drag/drop between them.
As for opening multiple instances, digiKam is capable of having several independent instances open at the same time; and, XnViewMP is capable of running many instances; I don't know if there is even any limit on how many XnViewMP can have open at the same time.
Thanks for this information about using more than one instance of FastStone at the same time, Buckskin. Never thought about doing so. I tried it on my laptop running Win 10 and it works like a charm. Now conjuring up potential uses!

The Startup Folder field is the first item under the Viewer Tab as shown in your earlier screen shot and circled in red below:

Thanks Charles for posting your Settings screen shot.
On the right end of the Startup Folder field is a small downward pointing "v" Click on it & from the dropdown list replace "Specified" with either "System Default" or Last Used". That will fix the Startup Folder error.
My Settings screen also has black as the color selected for the Full Screen Background Color and File Name Background Color fields.
Lastly I do not have a check mark in Show filename in Full Screen - text. Instead I have the check mark in the next choice - Show filename in Full Screen - Background
Hope this helps.

It's been a long time since I made the change so please let me know if this doesn't work: In the browser view of thumbnails along the top strip of icons click on the settings icon (just right of the printer icon) (circled in red) The settings window will appear with the leftmost Viewer tab selected. Click on the Normal View Background strip (at the red arrow) and click on the black square from the color options presented. Then save the changed setting. I think that will do the trick.

Charles, I'm long-time user of FastStone Image Viewer. Once you have the larger (non-thumbnail) version of your photo on the center of your computer screen simply move your cursor to the rightmost edge of your screen. A window will pop up with exif and other data information as shown in this example below:
