Does Elements 15 have a "subtract" blend mode - or is that only in the big brother version? ~bruce.

It is a work in progress. the On1 people started from the ground up on this one - building a dRAW converter that you can add styles/effects non-destructively to the actual RAW file (uses a "sidecar" to keep track of the information). I believe that it is taking longer then expected for them to get everything working in the right way. They have been adding tools that were very beneficial in ON1s Photo 10 - but it is taking time. I have been using it and like what it's capabilities are. Some have called it a beta program. I think it's a little further along then that. You can download a trial and see more information about it here: www.on1.com/products/photo-raw/~bruce

There is also that thing called the internet. Do a search for frames there. I have purchased bulk frames thru Amazon and have been very happy with them.

I also have to say that it totally depends on the frame manufacturer. But I've also allowed even more room so that for my black frames there is a white strip around the whole photo when it is in the frame. This seems to "set it off" and I like the effect. It should be noted that paper people say that it really should layered with a mat - to keep the print away from the glass.

And so it ends....or does it continue? - One person won the popular vote (votes of most of the people that voted) but lost the electoral vote (the electoral college). This has happened 4 times - and its always the Republicans that seem to pull this off. Now that suggests something being rigged.

In all reality - in the state of Minnesota - we get a paper ballot that we mark a box by the name of the candidate that we are voting for. That ballot will be run thru a scanner that keeps track of all the votes for all the items on the ballots (I will have city council members, school board members, mayor, House of Representatives, etc, etc. It will be a large ballot with many things to vote on. At the end of the day - the scanner is taken to a regional voting center where it will be attached to a tabulator. Those results will be forwarded to our state secretary of state. The secretary will announce the results of the voting. For all the voting outside of the Presidential election - actual vote numbers will decide who will win/lose. For presidential election - the person wins the most votes e.g. Clinton - then the 10 electoral college voters from Minnesota are supposed to vote for her. This doesn't take place until the First Monday after the second Wednesday in December.....don't even ask 'cuz I don't wanna go there. So the "official" end is when the electoral college has cast their votes - which is based on which candidate won the most votes in the particular state. And of course - there are a couple of states that screw this up by giving some votes to one candidate and some to others depending on how the voters of those states voted. Don't you just love how this all works? ~bruce.

In this year's election - which is very unusual based on the dislike of each candidate - it might have been easier to have a bunch of out houses (port-a-potties) with each of the candidate's name on individual ones. Whichever one has the most "........." in it at the end of the day - that candidate wins. (sorry - it's been a tough political campaign filled w/ more then the usual lies and inuedos).

I'd go with B&W and I'd also crop it so the things on the left hand side would be taken out - they cause me a distraction point. ~bruce.

Was there anything "dropped" from 14 to 15? That has happened before and was just wondering if it happened this time. ~bruce.

Which CC are you thinking about? The one with just Photoshop & Lightroom or another version? I ended up just buying the Perpetual License for Lightroom which means its all mine. Adobe doesn't update it as much as it does it's CC version - which is fine for me at this time. My workflow is basically catalog and raw conversion in Lightroom and then migrate over to On1 10 for enhancements, effects, portraits, resizing and even layers. It is a plugin and a standalone program all in one. On1 is coming out with a new program this Fall that looks interesting in that it will do RAW and many more things within the RAW conversion. I sometimes use PSE but not as much as I used to. The one main question after this long reply - what exactly are looking to do with CC that you aren't able to do in PSE? ~bruce.

Wendy - after being in Windows for 25 years and still working with it - and now switching to a Mac - there are bound to be times of confusion. I know I would find it hard to do things differently (Mac's old moto "Think Different!). One thing that I have heard from a person that repairs and works with both operating systems is that people that switch just need to learn to not "think so hard" about how files work in Macs. What in particular do you see is causing the "slow down" in you finding things on the Mac? ~bruce.

For a Mac - I use Superduper! - which is a software program that makes a bootable copy of my hard drives(s) (I have a couple of different hard drives on my old Mac Pro. My main hard drive is "superdupered" on 2 different externals drives that I keep in different "safe" locations - away from my work area. What I like about super duper is that when I want to make the backup copy - it will do so by only changing on the backup what is new on the main hard drive - saving lots of time. I'm not sure if there is a same program type for PC's. I'm sure that PC users will be able to chime in on what they use. As far as Carbonite - I have heard good things but..... you have to have a good upload internet access that is fast - because it can take a very long time to do the first backup. You have a monthly fee attached to that I believe. I do not know if it creates a bootable backup. Why I find the bootable backup important - I had a drive go down on me. I was able to start up from the Superduper cloned backup directly from the external hd and then superduper from the backup directly onto my new internal hard drive. All was right with the world . Good luck on your search for the right program for you. As always - it's not "if" your hard drive will fail but "when". And this applies to both the disk hds as well as to solid state drives! ~bruce.
