I use the Organiser to organise my photos and download them direct into it. However, now that I'm on Win 10 they are also visible in the Photos App. I don't want them showing up in the App and didn't, as far as I'm aware, tick anything to say that they should be included in there. Does anyone know how I can prevent this happening.

Great photos but on a desktop I found it irritating in that I had to click on a small photo to view it larger and then click on the > to see the rest of the set. Then it went back to a single large photo and I had to do the same with the next set of small photos. May be it would have been better viewed on an Ipad, but I don't own one!

You can always close down the structure on the right hand side so that your Imported Tags (for instance) are reduced to a single line. Just click on the little downward arrow head, it turns to pointing right and hides all the tags.

"...I came to the conclusion that if I don't recognize the people I'm photographing then I've got problems..." In order to keep my opening post short I did not explain how I acquired a large untagged catalog that now needs "people" tagging so that I and others can easily find images. Perhaps if I had I would not have got such a patronizing answer. My main catalog, many times the size of this one, is cataloged; I do that as I add images. However thank you to those who tried to help. Sorry, my comment wasn't meant be patronising. I was only responding because I felt sorry that you had had no comment. I guess I should have ignored you instead.

So sorry you're 'talking' to yourself athegn. Unfortunately I can't help as I don't use that facility. I came to the conclusion that if I don't recognise the people I'm photographing then I've got problems. I've always tabbed photos with the names of the subject(s) and continue to do it manually. When I did have a 'play' with the option I was fascinated by the odd things which were suggested as possible faces. Hope it works for you.

This is how I would do it - don't know whether it's the correct way but it works for me.
Open the file you want to be 'stamp' sized.
Image>Resize>Image Size
Make sure Resample Image is ticked. Look at the Pixel Dimensions: Width in pixels, remember the number. Change resolution to 200; then change the width size to the number of pixels previously remembered.
Go down to Document Size: Width (in inches or mm) and change the width to the measurement you want (1 inch?); Click OK.
I would then save it - with a new name, just so that I can find it again.
Drag it into the background file. Make sure Layers is open and give the layer a name (just so that you can easily spot which picture it is should you need to move it around when you have more 'stamps' on the background).
Hope this works for you.

I visit daily - sometimes more than once - but really only read the threads in the Editor and Organiser forums. I've read lots of helpful hints and tips - just need to remember them now! I enjoyed the old site and find that this one is an excellent replacement. Whenever I have a problem someone always helps and never makes me feel that I've asked a stupid question so, as far as I'm concerned, there is nothing here that needs improving.
Thanks so much for offering such an excellent resource.

Thank you Shaun - I knew it would be simple once I found out how. Done it now and everything is back to normal.

I must have clashed fingers and managed to make the toolbox on the lefthand side disappear unless I hover in that area. I can get at it by hovering but like to have it always visible. Can anyone tell me how to make it sit still please?

I never knew any of these ways of locating centre - and had also forgotten how to centre a circle. So thank you tbgettys for asking the question - and for its solution. Now all I need to do is remember!

I can certainly see the difference. I wasn't going to upgrade this time round but now I'm having to think about it.

Hi from down the coast. I see what you mean (now that I've had a 'play'.) There isn't an option to keep layers which is available when you save them individually. This would be a very convoluted process if you have a lot to convert. I was wondering, would it be better to buy an external drive and keep all your photos on that? Then you wouldn't need to resave them as tiffs to conserve disc space. I've been doing another experiment but have found that there is very little difference in file size between a psd and a tiff with layers. Are you really sure that going through this process is worth the effort? I must admit that as my camera only takes jpegs I simply save my worked-on photos as tiffs so as not to lose definition. If you want your files to end up as tiffs why not save them as tiffs from the outset. Or am I missing something?

Have you tried File > Process Multiple Files ?
The files you want to convert all need to be open in the editor but other than that you can choose where to save them, how to save them, and at what quality if you're saving to jpeg. I use it all the time to make my large original files into ones suitable for uploading to the web.

Ah! I knew I read somewhere that there was something reasonably straight-forward. But I am now happy with what I've got - both options as Icons. Depending on what I'm doing changes the program I want to use.
Thanks Sepiana
