I think if you find you've made an error in the first test and then click the correct one you are then able to continue.

The site is working as it usually does for me, floating page nos at the top of the screen, etc - with the exception of NO ADS! Although the ads didn't bother me at all - I didn't find them intrusive - it is lovely not to have them - thanks from me too.

Thanks for the explanation fstop - I'd never understood what low level format meant. I do now. I've always done a low level format so it looks like I've been doing good by luck.

I've certainly never been particularly aware of the ads. I know they're there but they're not intrusive. It may have something to do with your internet speed. Mine is, allegedly, Superfast Broadband, and is actually 17 mbps so that may explain why they're not interfering with my enjoyment of this site.

Press alt-printscreen with the picture as large as you can see it on your monitor. In PSE Editor New>From clipboard ? The picture will be 72dpi this way and you will have to give it a name when you save it. View the picture you want to copy Press Alt and Prt Scr (Print Screen) at the same time (On my computer Prt Scr is a button on the topmost row towards the righthand side) Open PSE Editor File > New > Image from Clpboard You now have the image in the Editor. Crop away any parts of the screen you don't want and then you can do whatever else you need to do to it and save it. Then you can do whatever you want to do with it as usual.

You know, I'd never noticed that it was always visible no matter where on the page I'd scrolled to ... I'd always scrolled back upwards again to see whether there was a page 2. I can see it now (PC Win 8.1 on Firefox). I'm sure it hasn't always been there but it definitely is now.
Edit to say that I can still see it on IE 11

As I've said before I don't really use Albums but as far as I can see:
Put your cursor on Local Albums then click the green + On the right hand side in the top window type 'Scans' On the lefthand side put the cursor on Scans click the green + On the right hand side click on the lower drop down button and highlight 'Scans' In the window above it type Illinois.
At least that's what I think happens. If you're still having problems someone else will have to help as my program has crashed when I tried to delete a test album.

I know what you mean Paul. My OH prefers to use one of our first digital cameras a basic point and click with just a small zoom. We do have later (and more expensive cameras) but most of the buttons are a mystery to us ... even after reading the manual. And the camera with the best colour if the first one we ever had, no matter how I try to change the settings I can't get any of our later ones to look the same. (I can do it on PSE but that's not the same.)

I'm sure it's not your brain that is having problems Paul - it's just that the publishers have to find ways of 'improving' their product so that we will buy the update and, in my opinion, many of the 'improvements' are a complete waste of time and just make things more complicated. Every time I've upgraded I've found that I've ignored a large percentage of the improvements and just concentrate of the one or two really valuable additions.

I would make a new Catalogue in File> Manage Catalogues > New - Give it a different name from the current one.
That way you have a completely fresh start but also haven't lost anything you've done previously if you want to go back to check. You photos will still be in the folders where you saved them.
Once you're completely happy with the new catalogue you can delete the old one. It doesn't delete the photos just the catalogue. You will have to set up your preferences again of course.

Have you checked whether your Firewall is working? I Googled 'Is my Firewall working' and came up with lots of options for Firewall testers. May be someone else can suggest which is realiable.

I'm not Sue but I'll tell you how I use the new 'improved*' Organiser (*To my mind they really messed it up but as I have over 30,000 photos in my catalogue I wasn't going to rearrange everything to suit the new system.) If you upgraded from an earlier version have you found where your old categories ended up? I think what were called 'Collections' ended up in the Albums section (I may have got the old name wrong.) In the right-hand column click on the Keywords tag. (This is where I found all my tags when I upgraded to V13.) Click the '+' sign and make a tag called Illinois. Highlight all the photos you want tagged and then drag over to the tag name. (They don't actually move but get a little icon beneath them showing the tag name.) This isn't the way PSE expects you to use the system but it is the way I've always worked and I refuse to be bullied by the publisher to change to their new way of working. You could decide to put Illinois under the Places heading if that makes more sense to you. If you decide to use the Albums section rather than Keywords just highlight all your photos >click on Illinois >drag the name towards your photos and a little icon will appear beneath each picture. (it is a green square with a - in the middle.) Edit to say that Sue was posting at the same time as me. So now you have the correct method of working and my way. You can use a mixture of Albums and tags - it's your catalogue, set it up the way you want to use it. (I've turned off a whole load of automatic options as I don't need the computer to tell me the names of my friends and family, where I've taken my photos, etc.) Personally I hide the Albums until I decide to use it - click on 'Hide Panel' in the bottom lefthand corner of the screen.

What a good idea - I think I've done that too. Edit to say that I've now put my home town beneath my Avatar. Thanks for setting this up for us.
