As the personification of "Miss Daisy", I have to be driven everywhere by my long-suffering husband, so my favourite car detail is the passenger seat. On the other hand, I do read maps quite helpfully. Brenda

"A" is for Arms and Armour - plus An Ardent Admirer - which I photographed this morning in London's Wallace Collection. I had real problems with light reflecting off the glass showcases, but these are the best of the bunch. Dennis

The two opening shots are outstanding and set a high standard for the rest of us. I've always wanted to visit Australia and Sydney looks fabulous. Never managed to "shoot" an aeroplane in flight - we only see distant jets on their way into Heathrow airport!

Arboreal Art, which I photographed today in Lesnes Abbey Woods in south East London - what a gem these woodlands are, hidden away in the urban wilderness where London meets Kent. Brenda

This old and redundant horse trough has been preserved and recycled as a miniature flower garden in the town of Horsham. A reminder of days of old, before the advent of the petrol engine. Brenda

The song is "Rain on the Window" - I think it was sung by The Hollies. Dennis

The Greyhound Hotel in Carshalton village dates from at least 1700 - over 300 years of history as an inn, midway between London and the famous Epsom Racecourse. It even boasts a ghost, a man who, legend has it, froze to death outside the door in the 1800's.

Our local church, St. Mary's, Beddington. Although much restored by the Victorians, it is an ancient church and is part of our own personal local history - we were married there, 50 years ago this December. Just behind it is the local stately home, Carew Manor. Again much altered by the Victorians it houses a mediaeval great hall with a hammer-beamed roof still intact.

"At this moment in time..." Why can't we just say "now"?

OK. I admit it smacks a little of "Chocolate Box" image, but this freshly whitewashed cottage really stood out against the background of foliage.

Lawn bowls is very much a summer time pursuit and if the weather is favourable, as it promises to be next week, it is perfect. But shortly after I took this photo, it rained!
I hope that the photograph comes out OK - in the Preview the ends seemed to be chopped off and there should have been a lot more players in view.

Helen -- What a crisp and sharp image! Great interpretation of this theme. I just love the flowers in this urban context. Dennis -- Great capture! You found a jewel of a flower here. I may be wrong but this flower could be a Common-Spotted orchid.
Janice -- One of my favorite flowering trees, Crepe Myrtle. They just brighten up the landscape even on a rainy day. Your layout did justice to these beautiful flowers. I love it.
EDIT: Dennis, it looks like it is indeed a Common-Spotted orchid.

Thank you Sepiana for identifying the Common Spotted Orchid for us. You must have taken some trouble to look it up and we are very grateful. I was curious, as I had been on walks where wild orchids were pointed out and identified, but of course, I had forgotten...

I took this photograph a couple of days ago; we at first thought it was some kind of wild Orchid, perhaps Pyramid Orchid? Can anyone identify it? It is quite a small plant on a single stem and the head is about three inches in height - you have to get close up to see the beautiful markings on the individual flowers.

The Foxglove is my favorite wild flower and seems to like to grow in woodland and shady spots. Look but don't touch - it is poisonous!
