Back to bugs today. A female ebony jewelwing. An easy damselfly to tell male from female. The female has those white dots on the wings, the male doesn't. It's not usually that easy to tell male from female The goldenrod is in flower and always attracts a variety of bugs - the only one I recognize is the Japanese beetle on the left. Tony

Out walking this morning after a night of storms but at least some relief from the heat. This could be one of those abstract guess what it is images: Those are fall webworms inside their web on a black walnut tree with raindrops on the web. And one more just down the trail - a bunch of wild grapes Tony

Wasn't quite sure how a very colourful stained glass window would work in black and white but I think it does - this is a window at St Mary's Church at Studeley Castle in the UK. The church goes back to the 15th century but the stained glass windows date to around 1860. Tony

To quote from its heritage building listing: "The Odd Fellows Hall was constructed in 1888 in the Italianate commercial style that was popular on Victorian main streets. Architect Isaac Erb incorporated classical cast iron columns and large expanses of coloured glass into his design." I wonder what goes on behind those dark glass windows .... Tony

Another wall - the building is over 100 years old so I'm guessing these are old bricks too! And one more - this glazed paving brick was from the main street in town when it was paved with bricks around 1900. Recovered when the road and sewers were redone a few years ago. The bricks were imported from the US - Nelsonville Block in Nelsonville, Ohio.

Here's a window from today - and old building that is in process of being fixed up and this window had been recently painted and a couple of cracked panes replaced - the first pic is from the outside in and the second is the same window from the inside out. Tony

Thanks Jim. It was a great image to play with and a good example of how much detail and colour is hidden away in raw images just waiting to be revealed.

Here's a window of a Victorian house although looking at it more closely I see it has hinges so maybe it might be more of a door than a window but I'll post it anyway 'cos I like the symmetry! Tony

Thanks for the introduction to Dave Kelly’s videos on Topaz Studio 2 Helen. I’ve just spent a most enjoyable hour following him showing how he created painterly digital art from an image downloaded from Pexels. Always something to learn. Do you have a link? I have Topaz Studio 2 - but never quite figured out the best way to use it. Tony

Installed the update but it seems to be slower than before and is doing some extra downloading when using. Will have to see if that was just initially or if it happens again. Did try on one of my Fuji RAF files (raw ones) and it looks like it will work fine on those although before I have only used it on Raw files converted to TIF in Lightroom.
Anyone noticed any difference in speed between this version and the last one? File size makes a big difference and maybe that's what I was seeing with the image I used it on..

Another local equine today but a lot friendlier than yesterday's zebra! I was hoping for a shot of foal with mother (a Belgian I think) but as soon as it saw me it headed over to the fence at speed and I had the wrong focus setting to keep it focused while running. Topaz helped some using the motion blur setting despite it being the horse that moved not the camera. Tony

More local wildlife. Lots of farms around here have horses but this is the only one I know that has zebra - I counted 5 of them today .. Tony

A is for Arches: Here's the bridge to the US - it's been quite a while now since I last crossed not being "essential". Actually it's two bridges - one to the US and one from but they are both arched but not the same (but architecturally matched) Also A is for Antenna of which there are many around - not sure what this one does but it was good for a pic.. Another skipper today - I think a broad-winged skipper on dense blazing star. A little black bee flew in while taking the shot. Tony
